Q2 2026 Highlights – Partnership for the U.S. Life Science Ecosystem (PULSE)

Jul 10, 2026 | Blog Post

PULSE and its network of nearly 40 partners have continued to build awareness of the unique and fundamental role of life sciences mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and other pro-competitive partnerships. Read below for a round-up of recent PULSE updates and commentaries.

Advocating for Balanced Competition Policy that Accelerates Innovation

PULSE submitted comments on two joint requests for information from the Department of Justice (DOJ) Antitrust Division and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) on antitrust and competition policy.

PULSE’s comments emphasized that reducing unnecessary barriers to pro-competitive life sciences M&A and other collaborations is critical to maintain America’s leadership in bringing groundbreaking new medicines to patients. This fundamental reality was echoed by other leading experts and organizations.

Partnering with Local Voices to Highlight the Impact of Life Sciences M&A

PULSE’s network of local partners continues to reinforce important on-the-ground perspectives on how life sciences M&A supports research, strengthens local innovation ecosystems and helps bring new medicines to patients.

During a recent Q&A, Debbie Hart, President and CEO of BioNJ, a PULSE partner, discussed the impact of life sciences M&A:

  • “For patients, M&A in the life sciences sector plays a direct and meaningful role in ensuring that scientific breakthroughs have a path to becoming real-world treatments. By bringing together early-stage innovation with the resources required for large-scale clinical trials, regulatory navigation and global commercialization, M&A helps prevent promising therapies from stalling due to resource constraints.” – Debbie Hart, Q&A with PULSE Partner BioNJ on the Local Impact of Life Sciences M&A

Spotlighting Examples of Life Sciences “Innovations Advanced by M&A”

PULSE continues to highlight real-world stories of treatments and cures made possible through a merger or acquisition that brought a new medicine to patients. Read our most recent case study here:

Highlighting Evidence of the Pro-Competitive Role of Life Sciences M&A

Amid a dynamic federal antitrust policy environment, PULSE emphasized the critical role M&A plays in advancing new, innovative medicines to patients. ICYMI, earlier this year, PULSE partners participated in a Congressional briefing spotlighting research that found medicines in development that undergo M&A are nearly twice as likely to launch compared to non-acquired drugs. Since then, additional evidence and commentaries have emphasized the need for a balanced approach to antitrust enforcement in the life sciences sector. Read more below:
